Naturalist Concentration
Students who have identified a real love for the natural world and a passion to make it come alive for others are given the tools to succeed with the Environmental Education degree. Along with the Outdoor Leadership core classes, these students concentrate on the biological field sciences such as ornithology, botany, entomology, mammalogy, marine biology, and herpetology, as well as general biology, environmental conservation and ecology. These classes give students a deep, working knowledge of nature, natural systems, and the human impact on these systems, preparing them for outdoor leadership positions in many venues (National Park Service, outdoor schools, natural history museums, nature centers, and other non-formal education facilities, eco-tourism, and others) as naturalists, educators, interpreters, and adventure guides.
